Schloss Mutzschen has 6 hectares of park including a large lake. The long term vision for the park is to have an outdoor music venue, private party space, campground, glampground and nature park. To achieve this vision has taken many steps that may not be seen the general public.
1st we had to do a complete inventory of the trees, animals, fish and more that inhabit the park. Next we began the removal of all dead or fallen trees, not any easy task with over 500 trees in the park!
Brush and debris cleanup came next.
The lake had not been drained and cleaned since 1940. This was a huge effort performed by the Anglerverband over a period of several weeks. The fish were relocated and the lake was drained and allowed to dry. This settled the silt and gave us a chance to repair the dam. There were over 15 fallen trees in the lake which were all removed.
Corona restrictions put a complete stop to our progress but in 2021 we were able to hold our first live music concert in the park.
2022 began the environmental and design study to realize our vision of the Campground/Glampground. This study is to be completed in 2024 and then the vision can begin to become reality.
